Air Testing Services
For all our clients we offer a tailored package of building compliance support services specifically designed to meet the project at hand.
Here in the UK, the government has a long-term goal of achieving a 60% reduction in UK CO₂ emissions by 2050, one of the key components affecting energy consumption is air leakage. In order to comply with Part L2A & L2B of the building regulations, all commercial and public buildings over 500m² are required to have successfully passed a Commercial Air Pressure Test.
Over the past 10 years ATSPACE have successfully undertaken many hundreds of Commercial Air Pressure Tests in schools, offices, superstores, public buildings and even prisons.
Whether you are a Small Builder, Industry Professional or Nationwide Construction Company we are able to offer our clients a fully tailored service from Design Review through successful completion of the Commercial Air Pressure Test itself, always delivered with the ATSPACE promise of

To help you plan the journey towards successful completion including drawing reviews, risk assessment on design & fabrication, identification of potential problem areas and a detailed report to help you maximise air tightness in readiness for the formal Air Pressure test itself.
A pre-test site visit for Part L2A/L2B of the building regulations, by one of our experienced Engineers, comprising a top-to-bottom examination of the build (where accessible) with the client or site agent in a ‘walk and talk’ format – where you can take notes and ask questions. This service is highly valued by many of our repeat clients who have been able to steadily improve their Air Permeability performance and stay ahead of regulation changes.
We will happily conduct a Commercial Air Pressure Test prior to improvement works (to ATTMA TS1 issue 2 (BS, EN Standard 13829:2001) and provide you with an informal ‘walk and talk’ identifying leakage points, areas of concern and the provision of advice for remedial work required. We can also provide you with a detailed Air Leakage Report (including photographs) should you so request.
Upon completion of improvements or remedial action carried out on an existing build, we will happily conduct a Commercial Air Pressure Test (to ATTMA TS1 issue 2 (BS, EN Standard 13829:2001) to comply with Approved Document L1 of the Building Regulations including all associated Test Report(s) and Certificate(s), which are produced directly via our online cloud portal. All of our engineers are iATS Certified.
Carry out a Smoke Test using a combination of odourless, non-toxic smoke and building pressurisation to identify leakage exit points and flow paths – which is the most effective way to quickly identify defects within the building structure. This will also include delivery of an easy-to-read Smoke Report including photographic evidence.
Part L1A of the building regulations – We will carry out a one-off site visit involving explanation of the Commercial Air Pressure Test and our pre-test requirements, as well as provide an overview of the Air Pressure Testing process and offer advice on general issues where potential problems could occur. Please allow for up to 1 hour on site.
A room integrity test is undertaken to pressurise and depressurise a gas protected room to obtain the expected retention time based on computer calculated values. A test report is then issued detailing pass or failure with the estimated leakage area of the enclosed space. Tested to British & International Standard (ISO 14520 and EN15004 Annex E).
Part L2A / L2B of the building regulations – Formal Air Pressure Testing to ATTMA TS1 issue 2 (BS,EN Standard 13829:2001) standard, to comply with Approved Document L1 of the Building Regulations including all associated Test Report(s) and Certificate(s), which are produced directly via our online cloud portal. All of our engineers are iATS Certified. An easy-to-read checklist will provide assistance to prepare the build for testing – FREE of charge.
Within a single site visit for Commercial Air Pressure Testing our Test Engineers are able to carry out an agreed number of multi-unit tests within the working day, under normal circumstances and ATSPACE offer all our clients significant discounts when conducting multiple tests in this manner.
Much of the Air Pressure Testing that ATSPACE carries out is as the preferred supplier for a number of the country’s leading construction companies – often on Commercial Developments or Mixed Residential & Commercial Sites which can require Air Pressure Testing on numerous buildings.
For these large-scale projects – ATSPACE offer our clients a ‘contract price’ and will undertake to carry out the workload over a number of visits to site or to execute a mix of both Residential & Commercial Air Pressure Tests within a working day.
Each of these projects will be individually managed and we recognise that with such projects – our skilled Test Engineers need to be flexible, adaptable and, above all, committed to delivering results to the agreed schedule.
All multi-unit testing projects will be carried out to Parts L1 and/or L2 of the building regulations by iATS Certified Test Engineers – Formal Air Pressure Testing to ATTMA TS1 issue 2 (BS,EN Standard 13829:2001) standard, to comply with Approved Documents L1 and L2 of the Building Regulations.
In addition, we can arrange for all associated Test Report(s) and Certificate(s) to be delivered direct to client/site contact, immediately via our online cloud portal – thereby enabling our clients to remain abreast of status and progress at all times.
